Ingredients
  

For the Beef Brisket:

  • 500 g beef brisket cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 thumb-sized ginger sliced
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cups beef broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Lo Mein:

  • 400 g lo mein noodles or any preferred Chinese noodles
  • 2 cups mixed seasonal vegetables e.g., bok choy, carrots, bell peppers, snow peas, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Cook the Beef Brisket:

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add the beef brisket and brown on all sides.
  • Add star anise, cinnamon stick, beef broth (or water), soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Once tender, remove the brisket from the pot and slice or shred it. Keep the broth warm for serving.

Prepare the Lo Mein Noodles:

  • Cook the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Stir-Fry Vegetables and Noodles:

  • In a large wok or pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Add the chopped vegetables and stir-fry until just tender.
  • Add the cooked noodles to the wok with the vegetables.
  • Stir in oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together and cook for another minute. Season with salt and pepper.

Combine and Serve:

  • Divide the noodles and vegetables among serving bowls.
  • Top with slices of beef brisket.
  • Ladle some warm broth over the noodles and beef, if desired.
