  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger minced
  • 1 green onion chopped
  • 1 small carrot julienned
  • 1/2 bell pepper sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water cornstarch slurry
  • Optional: a handful of chopped mushrooms or snap peas

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu:

  • Carefully cut the silken tofu into medium-sized cubes. Gently place them on a paper towel to drain any excess moisture.

Cook Garlic and Ginger:

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté until fragrant.

Add Vegetables:

  • Add the julienned carrot and sliced bell pepper to the pan (and mushrooms or snap peas if using). Stir-fry until they are just tender.

Gently Add the Tofu:

  • Carefully place the tofu cubes into the pan. Gently stir to mix with the vegetables, being careful not to break the tofu.

Season:

  • Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Gently stir to evenly coat the tofu and vegetables.

Thicken the Sauce:

  • Add the cornstarch slurry to the pan. Gently stir until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.

Garnish and Serve:

  • Sprinkle with chopped green onions.
  • Serve the Stir-Fried Silken Tofu hot with steamed rice.
