For the Chicken:

  • 500 g chicken breast thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons black bean sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

For Stir-Frying:

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2-3 red or green chilies sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 bell pepper sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • Salt to taste


Marinate Chicken:

  • In a bowl, combine the sliced chicken, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside for at least 20 minutes.

Prepare Sauce:

  • In another bowl, mix together black bean sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, sugar, and water. Set aside.

Cook Chicken:

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry until it's no longer pink. Remove from the wok and set aside.

Stir-Fry Aromatics:

  • In the same wok, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Stir-fry the minced garlic and sliced chilies until they become fragrant.

Add Veggies:

  • Add the sliced bell pepper and onion to the wok. Stir-fry until they soften.


  • Return the cooked chicken to the wok.

Sauce Time:

  • Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and vegetables in the wok. Stir well to combine.


  • Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt if necessary.


  • Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
