甜酸咕嚕肉, or Sweet and Sour Pork, is a classic Chinese dish that's a favorite in many restaurants and households. Ingredients
For the Pork:
- 500 g pork loin cut into bite-sized cubes
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for deep frying
For the Sweet and Sour Sauce:
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
Additional Ingredients:
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 green bell pepper cut into chunks
- 1 red bell pepper cut into chunks
- 1 onion cut into chunks
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
Prepare the Pork:
- Season the pork cubes with salt and pepper. Dip them in the beaten egg, then coat with cornstarch.
Deep Fry the Pork:
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 180°C (350°F).
- Fry the pork pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Make the Sweet and Sour Sauce:
- In a saucepan, combine pineapple juice, white vinegar, ketchup, sugar, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the cornstarch and water mixture to the saucepan. Stir until the sauce thickens.
Stir-Fry Vegetables:
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the bell peppers and onion, stir-frying until just tender.
Combine:
- Add the fried pork and pineapple chunks to the wok with the vegetables.
- Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the pork and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
Serve:
