Pan-fried Meat Patties with Cabbage and Tofu (煎肉餅椰菜豆腐)

Ingredients
  

  • 300 g ground pork or beef
  • 200 g tofu cubed
  • 300 g cabbage chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
  • Spring onions for garnish optional

For the Meat Patties:

  • 300 g ground pork or beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Prepare the Meat Patties:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, egg, and cornstarch.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Shape the mixture into small patties. Set aside.

Cook the Dish:

    Sauté Vegetables:

    • Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan. Sauté garlic and onion until translucent. Add the chopped cabbage and cook until slightly wilted. Remove the vegetables from the pan and set aside.

    Pan-fry Meat Patties:

    • In the same pan, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Pan-fry the meat patties until they are brown on both sides and cooked through.

    Combine:

    • Return the sautéed vegetables to the pan with the meat patties. Add the tofu cubes.

    Season:

    • Drizzle soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil over the mixture. Gently toss to combine all the ingredients. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

    Simmer:

    • Cover the pan and let the dish simmer for about 5-7 minutes so that the flavors meld together.

    Garnish and Serve:

    • Optionally, garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
