Pan-fried Meat Patties with Cabbage and Tofu (煎肉餅椰菜豆腐)

Ingredients
- 300 g ground pork or beef
- 200 g tofu cubed
- 300 g cabbage chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
- Spring onions for garnish optional
For the Meat Patties:
- 300 g ground pork or beef
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Meat Patties:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, egg, and cornstarch.
- Season with salt and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into small patties. Set aside.
Cook the Dish:
Sauté Vegetables:
- Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan. Sauté garlic and onion until translucent. Add the chopped cabbage and cook until slightly wilted. Remove the vegetables from the pan and set aside.
Pan-fry Meat Patties:
- In the same pan, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Pan-fry the meat patties until they are brown on both sides and cooked through.
Combine:
- Return the sautéed vegetables to the pan with the meat patties. Add the tofu cubes.
Season:
- Drizzle soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil over the mixture. Gently toss to combine all the ingredients. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Simmer:
- Cover the pan and let the dish simmer for about 5-7 minutes so that the flavors meld together.
Garnish and Serve:
- Optionally, garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
