Tofu Patties with Broccoli (豆腐疍餅西蘭花)
Tofu Patties with Broccoli is a nutritious and flavorful meal combining the softness of tofu with the crunch of fresh broccoli.
Ingredients
For the Tofu Patties:
- 400 g firm tofu
- 1 small carrot grated
- 2 green onions finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 inch ginger grated
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Broccoli:
- 1 head of broccoli cut into florets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Chili flakes to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Tofu:
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture: wrap it in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and place a heavy object on top. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
Make the Tofu Patty Mixture:
- Crumble the pressed tofu into a large bowl. Add the grated carrot, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, cornstarch, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Form the Patties:
- Shape the tofu mixture into patties, about ½ inch thick.
Cook the Tofu Patties:
- Heat a thin layer of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Roast the Broccoli:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Toss the broccoli florets with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread them out on a baking sheet.
- Roast for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and the stems are tender.
Prepare the Optional Sauce:
- While the broccoli is roasting, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and chili flakes in a small bowl. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
Serve:
- Serve the tofu patties with the roasted broccoli on the side. Drizzle the optional sauce over the patties or serve it on the side for dipping.
