  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour

Optional for extra flavor:

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips


Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan:

  • Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 4x8-inch loaf pan.

Mash Bananas:

  • In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.

Mix Wet Ingredients:

  • Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  • Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture and stir until well blended.

Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • Mix in the baking soda and salt. Gently fold in the flour, being careful not to overmix.

Optional Ingredients:

  • If using, fold in the cinnamon, chopped nuts, and/or chocolate chips.


  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve:

  • Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
