Ingredients
  

For the Pork Chops:

  • 4 pork chops about 1 inch thick
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying

  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine or dry sherry
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder

  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder

Instructions
 

Marinate the Pork Chops:

  • In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, minced garlic, sugar, and five-spice powder.
  • Place the pork chops in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or ideally 1-2 hours in the refrigerator.

Prepare the Pepper Salt Mix:

  • In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, and five-spice powder. Set aside.

Coat the Pork Chops:

  • Dip each marinated pork chop in the beaten egg, then dredge in all-purpose flour, ensuring they are fully coated.

Fry the Pork Chops:

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Once hot, add the pork chops and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

Apply the Pepper Salt Mix:

  • Sprinkle the prepared pepper salt mix over the pork chops while they are still hot.

Serve:

  • Serve the pork chops immediately, garnished with some fresh herbs or slices of lemon if desired.
