This dish is a simple, quick, and healthy way to prepare baby bok choy, highlighting its fresh, crisp texture and sweet flavor.
Ingredients
- 500 g baby bok choy cleaned and ends trimmed
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- Salt to taste
Optional Ingredients:
- A splash of soy sauce or oyster sauce for extra flavor
- A few drops of sesame oil for a nutty aroma
- Crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of heat
Instructions
Prepare the Baby Bok Choy:
- Rinse the baby bok choy thoroughly under cold water. Shake off excess water but no need to completely dry.
- If the bok choy is large, you can cut them in half lengthwise. Smaller bok choy can be cooked whole.
Heat the Pan:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Sauté Garlic:
- Add the minced garlic to the oil and sauté just until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Stir-Fry the Baby Bok Choy:
- Add the baby bok choy to the pan. Stir and toss quickly to coat with oil and garlic. Continue to stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes or until the leaves start to wilt and the stems are crisp-tender.
Season:
- Sprinkle salt to taste. If using, add a splash of soy sauce or oyster sauce and a few drops of sesame oil. Stir well to mix.
Serve:
- Transfer the cooked baby bok choy to a serving dish. If desired, sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of spice.
