Pork Peanut Lotus Root Soup (猪肉花生蓮藕湯)

  • 400 g pork ribs or pork loin cut into pieces
  • 200 g raw peanuts

  • 1.5 liters water
  • Salt to taste
  • A few sprigs of fresh coriander for garnish optional



  • Soak the raw peanuts in water for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  • Blanch the pork in boiling water for a few minutes to remove impurities. Drain and set aside.

Start the Broth:

  • In a large pot, bring 1.5 liters of water to a boil. Add the ginger slices.

Add Main Ingredients:

  • Add the blanched pork, soaked peanuts, and lotus root slices to the boiling water.

Slow Cook:

  • Reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover the pot and let it simmer for at least 1.5 to 2 hours. The longer the simmer, the more flavorful and richer the soup will become.


  • After the soup has simmered and all the flavors are well combined, add salt to taste.

Garnish and Serve:

  • Optional: Garnish with a few sprigs of fresh coriander before serving.
