Ingredients
- 2 pork chops about 200g each
- 2 large onions thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
Marinade:
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic minced
Instructions
Marinate the Pork Chops:
- In a bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients.
- Add the pork chops, making sure they are well coated with the marinade.
- Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours.
Prepare the Onions:
- While the pork is marinating, thinly slice the onions and set aside.
Cook the Pork Chops:
- Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Once hot, add the marinated pork chops.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they are nicely browned and cooked through.
- Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the Onions:
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Add the sliced onions.
- Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 10 minutes.
- Add a little chicken broth or water to deglaze the pan, scraping up any brown bits.
Combine and Serve:
- Return the cooked pork chops to the skillet with the onions.
- Heat everything together for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste, if needed.
Serve:
- Plate the pork chops, topping them with the caramelized onions.
- Serve hot, ideally with steamed rice or mashed potatoes.
