Ingredients

  • 2 pork chops about 200g each
  • 2 large onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water

Marinade:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic minced

Instructions

Marinate the Pork Chops:

  • In a bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients.
  • Add the pork chops, making sure they are well coated with the marinade.
  • Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours.

Prepare the Onions:

  • While the pork is marinating, thinly slice the onions and set aside.

Cook the Pork Chops:

  • Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Once hot, add the marinated pork chops.
  • Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they are nicely browned and cooked through.
  • Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Onions:

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Add the sliced onions.
  • Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  • Add a little chicken broth or water to deglaze the pan, scraping up any brown bits.

Combine and Serve:

  • Return the cooked pork chops to the skillet with the onions.
  • Heat everything together for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste, if needed.

Serve:

  • Plate the pork chops, topping them with the caramelized onions.
  • Serve hot, ideally with steamed rice or mashed potatoes.
